Privacy policy
We collect nothing
Your privacy matters to us. Vocably doesn’t collect any personal data, and we don’t share anything about you with anyone. Only if you turn on leaderboards do your three best scores go to Game Center or Google Play Games.
This policy covers the Vocably app on iPhone, iPad and Android, and this website.
No accounts, ads or tracking
There’s no Vocably account, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting. Apart from leaderboards, which stay off until you turn them on, the app doesn’t connect to the internet, so nothing you do in it is sent anywhere.
Your progress is saved on your device
Your games, stats, achievements, favourite words, review words, hint credits and settings are stored on your device, and in its own backups if you use them. We never see them.
Pronunciation
When Vocably says a word aloud, it uses a voice already on your device, so the word is never sent anywhere to be spoken. Voices that would need the internet are never used.
Reminders
If you turn reminders on, Vocably asks your permission to send notifications, then schedules them on your device. There’s no push service, so nothing is sent to us or anyone else to deliver them.
Leaderboards
Leaderboards are off until you turn them on. Then Vocably signs you in to Game Center on iPhone and iPad, or Google Play Games on Android, and sends it three numbers: how many words you’ve learned, your best win streak and your best daily streak. Other players see them beside your games nickname. Apple or Google keep them with your games profile, under their own privacy policies, and Google Play Games also collects diagnostics and usage data about itself. We never see any of it. Turning leaderboards off stops new scores being sent; to delete the ones already sent, use Apple’s or Google’s privacy settings for your account.
On iPhone and iPad, that’s Data and Privacy for your Apple Account. On Android, delete your Play Games data from your Play Games profile or your Google Account.
Purchases
Credit packs are bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google take the payment, under their own privacy policies, and we never see your name or payment details. The app keeps only the store’s transaction number, on your device, so a pack is never added twice.
Ratings
Now and then, after a good game, Vocably may ask you to rate it. The rating box is the App Store’s or Google Play’s own: what you choose or write goes to Apple or Google, under their own privacy policies, and Vocably can’t see whether you rated it or what you said. The app keeps only when it last asked, on your device.
Email and sharing
If you email us, we see only what you send, and use it only to reply. When you share a game, your stats or a word, the picture or text is made on your device and goes only to the app you choose. Saving a picture to your photos asks your permission to add it; Vocably can’t see your photo library.
For all ages
Vocably is made for everyone, children included. We collect nothing from anyone, so we collect nothing from children either. Leaderboards use Game Center or Google Play Games, which apply their own rules to children’s accounts.
This website
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other sites: its fonts, pictures and scripts all come from vocably-game.app. The round you can play on the home page runs in your browser and keeps nothing.
The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard request logs, such as your IP address, your browser and the pages you asked for, to run and protect the service. They’re kept under Netlify’s privacy policy, and we don’t use them to follow anyone.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes, the new version will be here and in the app. Questions? Write to vocably@xgeno.com.
